Understanding the Types of EV Chargers We Install
LEVEL 1 CHARGERS (120 Volt):
Level 1 chargers use a 120-volt AC plug, making them the most accessible type of EV charger since they can plug into a standard household outlet. This charger is typically provided with your electric vehicle and is best suited for overnight charging or for vehicles with smaller batteries. A Level 1 charger can typically fully charge an electric vehicle in about 8-20 hours.
LEVEL 2 CHARGERS (240 Volt):
Level 2 chargers operate on a 240-volt AC circuit, significantly speeding up the EV charging process. They require a dedicated 240-volt line installation, similar to what you would use for heavy appliances like dryers and ovens. A Level 2 charger can typically fully charge an electric vehicle in about 4-6 hours.
LEVEL 3 CHARGERS (DC Fast-Chargers) (400-920 Volt):
Level 3 chargers, also known as DC Fast-Chargers, provide the quickest charging solution available, using a 400-920 volt DC plug. They are capable of charging an electric vehicle's battery to 80% in as little as 20 minutes to an hour.
